Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis are back in the Australian Open men’s doubles draw for the first time since winning the title in 2022.
After a two-year absence, Kyrgios made his grand slam return from injury in the singles event, losing to Jacob Fearnley in the first round; while Kokkinakis fell heartbreakingly short of his first third-round appearance at Melbourne Park when he lost in five sets to 15th seed Jack Draper.
Though both are battling injuries, the pair’s attention now turns to the doubles, where they will face fellow Aussie duo Aleksandar Vukic and James Duckworth – the latter of whom progressed to the third round in the singles – in the first round.
Their match will take place on the evening of Thursday night, January 16 (AEDT).
What time are Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis playing at the Australian Open?
Kyrgios and Kokkinakis are slated to play Vukic and Duckworth on John Cain Arena on Thursday evening.
The clash is scheduled as the second match of the evening session on the court, with a men’s singles match between Holger Rune and Matteo Berrettini slated to begin at 5pm (AEDT).
Kyrgios and Kokkinakis’ match will follow immediately after, meaning a start time of approximately 8pm (AEDT) – but it could be pushed further back if Rune and Berrettini have an extended encounter.
A 8pm start would mean viewers in Queensland can tune in from 7pm local time, while it would be a 7:30pm start for South Australian viewers, 6:30pm for Northern Territory audiences and 5pm for those in Western Australia.
