Tottenham Hotspur meet Leicester City in a crucial Premier League meeting between the two struggling teams.
Victory will lift Tottenham up to 12th if Crystal Palace fail to win elsewhere, whilst Leicester can climb out of the relegation zone with a win.
Team News
Tottenham could be without Djed Spence, Pape Matar Sarr, Yves Bissouma and Sergio Reguilon due to various knocks, which kept the quartet out of Spurs’ Europa League win at Hoffenheim on Thursday (23 January).
Guglielmo Vicario (ankle), Mickey van de Ven (leg), Cristian Romero (quad), Brennan Johnson (calf), Dominic Solanke (knee), Destiny Udogie, Wilson Odobert and Timo Werner (all hamstring) are sidelined.
Leicester could hand new signing, Woyo Coulibaly his debut following a full week of training.
Mads Hermansen (groin), Wilfried Ndidi (hamstring), Abdul Fatawu (ACL) and Ricardo Pereira (muscle) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Tottenham host Leicester at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday 26 January at 2pm GMT, untelevised live in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Tottenham have lost one of their last six league meetings against Leicester (W4, D1, L1).
- Leicester have won one of their last seven away trips to Tottenham (W1, D1, L5).
- Spurs’ Son Heung-min has five goals in his last two home appearances against Leicester (W2).
- No Tottenham player has hit the woodwork in the top-flight more than Brennan Johnson this season (4).
- Leicester have lost three of their last four league games by 2-0 results.
Prediction
Despite missing key players like Solanke and Johnson for their win at Hoffenheim, Tottenham were much better in attack than in their league loss at Everton but their defence does still look there for the taking if put under serious pressure, which has to be a concern given their current league position.
Leicester meanwhile have lacked much luck in their end product in their last two games and particularly despite largely dominating Fulham at times last weekend, so you have to wonder when their fortunes might change especially as this is a chance to boost their survival chances after results elsewhere.
I however can’t see Spurs losing this if they turn up and play like they did at Hoffenheim but Leicester really should nick a goal for their confidence if can target the hosts’ defence efficiently.
Prediction: Tottenham 2-1 Leicester
