The five-time champions Mumbai Indians have not had the best of seasons recently as they have not only failed to advance in to the finals of the IPL but also did not remain in the top 5 teams since 2021, with the only exception marked in 2023 when they reached the playoffs before losing to Gujarat Giants in the IPL second qualifier match.

Mumbai Indians retained their core side of the big five Indian options before the IPL auction and returned with an even more resolved bowling side, acquiring the likes of Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar , Will Jacks and Allah Ghazanfar, a frontline spinner for the first time in the MI 11.

SWOT analysis of Mumbai Indians

Strengths:

The biggest strength of the Mumbai Indians lie in their extremely talented core team which includes Indian skipper Rohit Sharma , World’s best pacer Jasprit Bumrah, best all-rounder Hardik Pandya and India’s current T20 skipper Suryakumar Yadav.

However their biggest strength will be in youngsters Will Jacks and Tilak Varma who can make it big with their current form in the shortest format of the game.

Weakness:

The weakness of the team lies in their relatively inexperienced lower order. The Mumbai Indians are known to produce big hitters like Kieron Pollard and Tim David which seemed to be lacking this time around as they have shown too much faith on young heads like Robin Minz.

Opportunities:

Mumbai Indians’ opportunity will be of finally making it a full joint effort from the team to regain their status of champions in the upcoming edition of the IPL, as many have disregarded them as one.

While Hardik Pandya the world cup hero would also look to regain the trust and love and praise of the Mumbai fans who wooed him on every occasion last time around.

Threats:

Mumbai would face the heat of team death over specialist bowlers as their powerful batting order ends with Hardik Pandya and the ones coming at the back are inexperienced and not potential long hitters of the ball.
